iPad app provides free calls

Sweden-based company freephoo recently released their free iPad application on the Swedish App Store. After downloading and installing freephoo, a customer can make free calls to other freephoo users and cheap calls to both fixed-line and mobile phones. Apple’s iPad has no native support for IP telephony, but with freephoo all iPad users can finally use their iPads as a phone together with their mobile number. Freephoo is based on mobile VoIP, which is currently a fast growing technology.

Staff at Freephoo believes that communication between people should be shaped by true customer needs. The company aims to create and offer communication services that are truly devoted to the customers instead of geographical borders and telecom network limitations.

Freephoo was launched in the Swedish market last April and shortly after that, freephoo was the chosen App of the day by MacWorld and was included in the Top Free Apps for iPad. Freephoo was also featured in What's hot and New and Noteworthy in the App Store.

Pandelis Eliopoulos, freephoo’s CEO said "iPad is an amazing product but it lacks the ability to make and receive calls. Some users see this as a major limitation so we are proud to be able to solve this in a favorable way for all iPad users."

He also said Freephoo will make its way into new markets. The Nordic countries such as Finland, Norway and Denmark are the first markets to be launched, according to Eliopoulos.

Freephoo is really easy to understand. You don't need to select a username or add a person manually to a list before calling them. You just have to use your own mobile phone number when calling and it will be shown at the receiver’s end. You can also automatically see which of your friends are using freephoo so you know when you can call them for free.

It has been noted that Freephoo is one of the first services on the App Store that enables the user to purchase premium minutes through Apple’s own payment system. It enables iPad users the possibility to make low cost calls to billions of mobile and fixed phones in several countries.

Eliopoulos said, "Our iPad application is a unique hybrid. It combines the best of mobile VoIP with the possibility to contact traditional numbers for cheaper rates. This gives our users the ability to call all freephoo users for free and to billions of mobile and fixed-line phones at low-cost rates."
