Microsemi picks Anixter to distribute in Brazil’s Power over Ethernet solutions

Anixter today announced its alliance with Microsemi, a world leader in PoE (Power over Ethernet) and POH (Power over HDBaseT), to distribute the company's products in Brazil. Microsemi has also partnered with CommScope, a world leader in the manufacture of structured cabling systems. Microsemi's goal is to partner for development and certification of premium channels of integration in Brazil. "The power has been a key element in the successful design and implementation of a modern IT infrastructure and safe against obsolescence - especially in Brazil, where the ability to upgrade existing infrastructure is essential, "said Paul Pickle, senior vice president of Microsemi.

By offering its solutions as a complement to CommScope products, Microsemi to assist customers in setting up a secure against technology obsolescence. Microsemi's solutions can provide power through the structured cabling infrastructure well before the customer to consider a non-PoE switch or PoE, ensuring that advances in technology and future updates can be easily incorporated.

Customers can also choose the appropriate cabling infrastructure - it becomes more important since PoH is capable of driving up to 95W in cables of Category 5 or higher.

Microsemi's agreement with Anixter in Brazil expands distribution agreement overall the two companies already have to operate in the United States, Europe and Asia.

"By partnering with Microsemi, we added to our offering PoE midspans, PoH and other solutions that provide customers with more complete solutions and leverage existing technology in their businesses," explains Luis Falguera, Manager of Business Unit Anixter's Infrastructure in Brazil.

The first implementation of Microsemi in Brazil, together with CommScope and Anixter, was held in a state bank in Rio de Janeiro. The focus of the project is a new infrastructure for the bank's headquarters, including the installation of a network prepared for PoE, where midspans are complements Microsemi's cabling infrastructure.

The whole project consists of 6,240 PoE ports to support VoIP, WLAN and video surveillance applications. The completion of the installation is scheduled for late 2011.

The Microsemi PoE midspans designed to power devices such as network cameras, access control systems , thin clients and other network devices through standard Ethernet cables - all without the need for any changes in the network infrastructure.
