1. AudioCodes Introduces Media Gateway Platforms
AudioCodes has introduced the Mediant family of media gateway platforms, an open solution that provides media processing capabilities, PSTN interfaces, singaling, control protocols and vocoder options. The company is offering three PICMG 2.16 based platforms with scaleability ranging from a single T1 or E1 to 240 T1s or E1s of compressed or G.711 VoIP channels per shelf.

3. iTelco Unveils Videoconferencing Solution
iTelco Communications has introduced IPC 2.1, a H.323 videoconferencing solution that supports the G.711, G.723 and G.729 codecs. The technology features operator-free conference call initiation, dynamic dial out, mute, hold, disconnect, digital recording, synchronized online presentation, file sharing, private text messaging, and operations in scheduled and on-demand mode conferencing. The system is interoperable with gateways and gatekeepers supplied by Cisco, Lucent, Sonus and Clarent.

IPC 2.1 includes a service provisioning system, web based monitoring system, and CDR billing system supporting both prepaid and postpaid billing. It is built with the Intel NetStructure ZT 5090 4U general purpose packet switched platform.

5. ITXC Interconnects with China Mobile
ITXC has interconnected its network with China Mobile Communications, the world’s largest mobile carrier with more than 100 million subscribers. ITXC has PoPs in 152 countries.

7. TI Acquires Ditech’s Echo Cancellation Unit
Texas Instruments has acquired Ditech’s Telinnovation Echo Cancellation Software Unit for $26.8 million. The business become a part of TI’s Broadband Communications Group.

9. Siemens to Distribute VocalTec in India & ME
Siemens Information Systems will distribute and install VocalTec’s hardware and software solutions in India and the Middle East. Siemens will carry VocalTec’s Softswitch Architecture 3000 as well as its packet tandem switching solutions including international and domestic long distance calling, exchange carrier services and trunk replacement, and hosted services such as voice VPN, conferencing, global call center and calling card services.

11. NorVergence Deploys MetaSwitch’s Switch
NorVergence, a Managed Care/Total Care application provider, has deployed MetaSwitch’s VP3000 switch in its New Jersey operations center. The switch has been installed to deliver VOIP to NorVergence’s SME customers.

13. Comcast to Deploy Motorola’s VoCable
Comcast will deploy Motorola’s SB3500 eMTA for its VoIP over cable trial in Detroit and the initial commercial deployment that is scheduled to follow. The eMTA, which functions as a communications gateway, supports voice features such as Caller-ID, call waiting, and call forwarding.
