1. Shandong Netcom to Deploy Nortel’s VoIP Gear
Shandong Netcom, a subsidiary of China Netcom, will exclusively deploy Nortel Networks’ technology to deliver voice, video and data services in the Shandong Province. Shandong will deploy Nortel’s softswitch, SIP media and application server, gateways, IADs, SIP phones, videophones, and softclients. Initially, services will be launched in Qingdao, Jinan, and Tai’an. Shandong will support a variety of delivery methods including twisted pair, ADSL, HFC, and Ethernet.

3. iDial Acquires GlobalNet
iDial Networks has completed its acquisition of GlobalNet, a wholesale international voice and data provider.

GlobalNet generated approximately $100 million in 2002. The provider operates a network with 250 PoPs, offering origination and termination to over 240 countries via SIP, H.323 or TDM. GlobalNet’s customer base includes has more than 30 Tier 1 and Tier 2 carrier customers and a large number of global service providers and PTT organizations.

5. iQ NetSolutions Introduces IP Call Control Applications
iQ NetSolution has introduced VistaPoint Integrated Call Manager (ICM) and VistaPoint Companion, a collection of call control applications as well as software that allows functionality across mixed vendor IP PBX and PBX environments such as those offered by Nortel (Meridian 1 and CSE 1000) and Mitel (3300 and SX-2000). In addition to Unified Call Management, the call control applications provide knowledge of Presence with drag and drop call processing, call logging, and enterprise instant messaging.

7. Shoreline to Use Viola’s VoIP Assessment Tools
Shoreline Communications, its resellers, and clients will exclusively use Viola Networks’ NetAlly for assessment and troubleshooting of their respective VoIP systems. NetAlly includes an automated network assessment interface that determines the maximum number of IP telephony calls that can be sustained while maintaining toll voice quality. The product generates presentation rady formal assessment reports and includes a set of network and application tests used for real-time diagnosis.
