The Eastern Management Group has released a study on the VoIP marketplace. The firm finds that Cisco led VoIP equipment sales in 2001, despite a rally by Nortel to lead sales in Q’4. EMG reports that Cisco’s enterprise VoIP equipment market share exceeded 25% last year. Cisco has been a dominate supplier of IP-LAN telephony systems, while Nortel leads IP-enabled TDM VoIP system sales. 3Com is the runner up in IP-LAN voice systems. EMG finds Mitel to be a challenging competitor in both technologies, doubling its market share from the third to the fourth quarter.
