1. Innomedia Introduces IP Desktop Phone
Innomedia has introduced MTA 3308, a desktop IP phone/MTA that can be employed in multiple system configurations including GR303/V5.2 gateways, PacketCable call agents/softswitches, or SIP softswitches.

The technology features advanced voice compression codecs including G.728, G.729E, G.711, and G.723.1; line echo cancellation (G.168); voice activity detection; a built in priority switch; and comfort noise generation. It supports protocols including PacketCable NCS 1.0, MGCP 1.0 and SIP 2.0 as well as QoS standards including QoS IEEE 8.201 p/Q and TOS tagging. For upgrading, configuring, monitoring, testing, and remote provisioning, the MTA supports HTTP, SNMP, TFTP, FTP and Telnet.

Innomedia’s new product has an 80 character (4×20) dot matrix LCD with menu navigation keys, a speakerphone, 50 number phonebook, 10 memory speed dial keys, and a message waiting indicator. It has two built in Ethernet 10/100 RJ-45 ports so that users can share a WAN connection with a desktop PC. Other phone features include date and time display, call timer, caller ID, call logging, last number redialing, mute and flash. CLASS features are supported via a network based call agent or GR303/V5.2 gateways.

The MTA 3308 will be available this June.


3. Brix Unveils VoIP Test Suite
Brix Networks has introduced an enhanced VoIP test suite to its service assurance software system that simulates calls and other transactions. The new version features a call quality index and a SIP service active test. The technology performs pre-deployment testing, proactive performance monitoring, service level management verification, troubleshooting and problem diagnosis functions.

The new test suite version is available for $40,000.

5. Tiscali France Interconnects with iBasis
Tiscali France, a pan-European carrier and ISP, has interconnected its network with the iBasis network.

7. Skywave to Deploy SnowShore’s Media Server
Skywave, a VoIP provider in Japan, will deploy SnowShore’s N20 media server to act as an enhanced services platform for its network. Skywave plans to introduce a series of new services that deliver content to PDAs.

SnowShore’s media server can support tens of thousands of media streams for multiple applications simultaneously. The technology is based on SIP/VXML.

9. Cygnal to Resell MultiTech in Canada
Cygnal’s Communications Services Group will resell Multi-Tech’s gear in Canada including the company’s VoIP, Internet acess, and multiplexer products.
